Vocalist (Classical Jazz)
Chuck Holden began his entertainment career in church and the public schools of Hamlet, North Carolina where he grow on the same street as john Coltrane. He started piano at the age of 8, and then at 14 he began tenor saxophone with his high school band, by age 16 he was lead vocalist. Since then chuck has performed, partnered and co-wrote with artist such as Brook Benton and Odetta. Chuck was accepted into the Jazz Mobile in New York in the advanced Jazz vocal department where he studied voice with Myrna Lake and piano with Danny Mixon. He has performed at Lincoln Center on numerous occasions with his church and as a solo artist; Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, The Henry Street settlement Theatre in the opera II Pagliacci, nightclubs and television.
While under contract as an instructor at Richmond Community College in Hamlet, Chuck accepted an extra part in the movie, the Color Purple. So inspired by the directions of Steven Spielberg, Chuck immediately returned to New York and began studying acting with Eve Collyer, and appeared in off-Broadway plays and independent films. Chuck Holden appeared at the FMJS 15th Annual East Coast Jazz Festival, February 18, 2006, new stage, "Fish's Jazz Club".
